Seitai Shinpo Japanese Structural Acupuncture

Seitai Shinpo is a system of acupuncture developed by Daiichi Sorimachi. He was the first to discover that internal organ systems could be balanced through alignment of the spine with acupuncture and moxibustion. Seitai Shinpo has been most influenced by the acupuncture-moxibustion style of Sawada Ken and the structural therapy of Sotai Ho as developed by Dr. Keizo Hashimoto. Treatments vary between different practitioners, but generally speaking a Seitai Shinpo treatment incorporates a combination of needling the front and the back of the body and the application of moxibustion using a herb called artemesia vulgaris. Diagnosis and treatment is influenced more strongly by the observation of structural distortions of the body than the reading of pulses or tongue as in other styles of acupuncture.

There is little to no retention of needles.

Therapeutic Massage

My "signature" massage. A personalized treatment consisting of a blend of techniques such as Lomilomi, Swedish, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Sliding Cupping, and Percussion Massage with the Hypervolt.

Deep Tissue

Similar to Swedish massage, but with sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of muscle and connective tissues. This helps break up scar tissue from injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue. There may be soreness up to a couple days after. Hydration is essential.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, relaxing massage that helps the circulation of lymph. Aside from starting with abdominal massage, the rest of the session consists of slow, repetitive movements in specific directions/sequence. The lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins from the body. After a session you may experience "detoxing" symptoms. It is extremely important to stay very hydrated before and after.

Sennin-So Shiatsu

Sennin-So Shiatsu is very different from Western Shiatsu. It is NOT a massage. Clients are clothed and no oil is used. This style focuses on arterial blood flow by stimulating and releasing certain points along the channels. The techniques used are invigorating and fast to stimulate blood circulation. Sennin-So Shiatsu originated in Japan from a blind Buddhist monk who lived in the 14th century. This style was brought to the United States by Sengo Shimizu and taught to me by Adam Hewitt.

Traditional Hawaiian Lomilomi

Lomilomi is an ancient Hawaiian healing system (massage is only one component). Lomilomi means "to rub or knead" so expect lots of kneading as well as long, sweeping strokes of the hands and forearms. There will also be deep compressions, tapotement, abdominal massage and assisted stretches. This style is from Aunty Margaret Machado's lineage, taught to me by Kumu Maka'ala Yates and Kumu Angela Leslee.

Hypervolt Percussion Massage

The Hyperice Hypervolt is a percussion massage device. Percussion therapy helps relieve muscle soreness and stiffness, promotes circulation, and accelerates warmup and recovery. I offer this is as an add on to help warm up the muscles before a session OR as a full body session that includes a neck massage with oil.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient therapy that uses cups (glass, plastic, silicone, bamboo) to create a suction in

an area. This relieves muscle tension and increases blood circulation. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cupping is used to promote the free flow of qi and relieve stagnation.  I love this as an add-on!

Please note it does leave marks that can last from a few hours to a couple weeks.
